Oscars 2011

It's countdown to the greatest movie show of them all as the Academy Awards prepare to celebrate 83 years of show biz today.

As the stars prepare to roll down the red carpet for the best films, performances, costumes and soundtracks of the year, the curtain will also fall on a new Oscar pairing of James Franco and Anne Hathaway.

The two actors will host this year's awards. Not only is it the first time for both of them, but Franco is also in Oscar contention for his role in 127 Hours.

In another first time pairing, this year the Academy Awards will be directed and produced by Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer.

Film and television producer Cohen first "fell in love" with Oscar when he was eight. It's been a long-seated love for Cohen who has gone from watching it on television to starring in it himself when he won best picture Oscar for American Beauty in 1999 and now to producing the show in 2011.

His partner Mischer is an Emmy winner who has a credit list for the production/direction of shows such as the Olympics opening ceremony and the Super Bowl halftime show.
