Jerry Sloan has hung up his proverbial basketbal

After nearly 30 years at the Utah Jazz, coach Jerry Sloan has hung up his proverbial basketball with a retirement announcement this week.

Sloan, 69 years, is the longest serving coach in American pro sports with 23 years as head coach at Utah Jazz.

While it's safe to say Sloan has put in his time for the NBA - he has coached 1903 games and 196 playoff games with Jazz - it is surprising to see him leave mid-season.
