HP Touchpad to take on Apple
HP has announced a new era of webOS-based products that will compete directly with Apple's share of the market.
HP's new products will include a TouchPad similar to Apple’s iPad and the Pre 3 smartphone similar to the Apple made iPhone.
Senior vice president Jon Rubinstein said the products would link "a wide family of HP products through the best mobile experience available."
Ironically Rubinstein worked for Apple until 2005 and is known as the "father of the iPod".
The TouchPad will be launched later in the summer. The 9.7-inch multi-touch tablet is designed to be either used alone or as a companion to a webOS phone. It has a virtual keyboard.
