A video of two suns setting on China's CTV network went viral this week, prompting fears that the bright star Betelgeuse in Orion had exploded, or were we seeing two suns?
While the images initially suggested something strange happening in space the more likely explanation for them is a mirage, optical illusion or a practical joke.
Les Cowley from British website Atmospheric Optics said it "is almost certainly a reflection owning to shooting through a window".
